Otterbox Defender for Z10

I tried to contact Otterbox, but they are having issues with their site right now. This is what I was trying to send them:

I purchased the Otterbox Defender for the BlackBerry Z10 and I have to say I am very disappointed.

The first issue I noticed is that it is tricky to swipe up from the bottom. This is a basic function of the phone and is used regularly. It is the equivalent of making the "Home" button on the iPhone difficult to press, making the user press it several times to work. Trying to swipe from the sides (like when the device is in landscape orientation) is nearly impossible. I got it to work once of the numerous times I've tried and have resorted to switching to portrait anytime I need to swipe up from landscape.

The next issue is the screen protector isn't "tight" to the screen. With the cutout at the top, this actually creates 2 issues here:
-There is a noticeable gap away from the edges, so when you tap on the screen the user has to press the protector down a bit to actually type. I don't really know how to describe how awkward this makes it feel to type or click, except that it feels like the failed attempt of BlackBerry's first touch-screen device -the Storm.
-The next issue is that the gap between the protector and screen allows dust/dirt and hair into the opening at the top and these contaminates then grind against the screen. This really eliminates, reverses actually, the benefits of having a screen protector at all. I feel I need to install a screen protector to protect the screen from the built-in Otterbox screen protector!

Another issue I encountered is that the holster doesn't hold the device well at all. This seems like a lazily designed addition to the case and of very poor quality. The magnet doesn't even activate the sleep function of the BlackBerry. I won't be using the holster due to fear of losing the device while I'm working.

I have used OtterBox cases on a few other devices and I was always satisfied with the quality. I don't know what happened during production or testing, but Otterbox really dropped the ball on this case.

I feel that the case still provides a decent amount of protection against drops and will continue to use it at work where I need a well-protected device, but I have taken the case off of the phone as soon as I feel the likelihood of damage to my device is minimal.

As quite a few of my colleagues, friends, and family are picking up the BlackBerry Z10, I will not be recommending this case to any of them.
